El Cid La Ceiba
Hotel Information: A favorite spot for cruise-ship crews seeking pool and beach time, the El Cid welcomes a mixed crowd of casual world travelers.
Amenity highlights: El Cid offers beach-and-pool areas north and south of a beachside restaurant. To the north lies a large terrace of white sand with steps leading directly into the transparent water and the main pool, which measures 10.5 x 16.75 meters (35 x 55 feet). To the south lies a smaller pool (5.5 x 17 meters/18 x 55 feet) and a smaller stretch of sand (23 x 18 meters/25 x 20 yards). This section offers a sandy, six-meter (20-foot) opening to the sea and playground equipment adjacent to a children's center.
Insider tip: A movie crew sank an airplane just off the beach in the 1980s. Some 30 feet below the surface, the airplane is a popular diving target.
Accommodations at the El Cid La Ceiba Beach were totally renovated with new furnishings, beds, mattresses, flooring, fixtures, and linens in spring 2006. All 60 guestrooms have balconies or terraces with anti-hurricane protection; views are of the Caribbean. Bathrooms have marble soaking tubs; cable/satellite TV, in-room safes, refrigerators, and coffeemakers are provided. Rooms are booked in the European Plan, which includes room accommodations only. |
